How we check a discount
A discount is only as honest as the price it is taken from. So we keep our own record: twice a day, every price of every piece we follow, at every retailer we cover. We collect from retailers' official affiliate feeds, or from shops that have agreed in writing.
When a piece is marked down, we look at the 30 days before the first markdown and give the discount one of three states.
Checked
We saw the piece on at least 25 of those 30 days, and the price the retailer gives as the original price matches the lowest price we saw, to within 1%. The discount carries our checked mark.
Higher reference than we saw
We saw a lower price in those 30 days than the one the retailer gives as the original price. We show the sale price together with the lowest price we saw, and no mark. We don't accuse anyone: prices change for many reasons.
Too new to check
We saw the piece on fewer than 25 of the 30 days, usually because it is new to us. We show the discount as the retailer states it, without a mark.
Second markdowns
When a piece is marked down a second time, we keep measuring from the price before the first markdown, not from the first sale price.
Delivered price
The price we quote includes delivery to you under the retailer's rules, and it is the price in your size: some sizes cost more than others. Each price shows when we last saw it. If the retailer's price at checkout differs, the retailer's price applies; please tell us at contact@theauralist.eu.
